Our community showed an abundance of giving in October, during two donation drives hosted at the Main Library. Thanks to all who donated!

Boxes & boxes of socks!
This was our fifth year participating in the annual Socktober drive.
In past years, we collected hundreds of pairs of socks for clients of shelters.
And this year, our community really stepped up.
With a huge donation from one of Oak Park’s middle schools, we collected more than 950 pairs of socks for donating to Housing Forward!
“Housing Forward is a great community partner and we look forward to continuing to work together,” says Librarian Genevieve Grove, who coordinates the Socktober donation drive every year at the library.

Plus warm clothes for kids
And, in the last week of October, we received heaps of warm kids’ clothes for donating to the nonprofit Cradles to Crayons Chicago.
