How to listen to music with your library card

By Rose Barnes, Health & Senior Services Librarian

There are so many benefits to having an Oak Park library card, and checking out digital music on Hoopla is one of my favorites.

Part of your digital library, Hoopla features ebooks, digital audiobooks, movies, TV shows, and more that you can check out instantly—no holds, no waiting—on a computer, tablet, or smartphone with your Oak Park library card and PIN.

Here are some fun music collections that I am enjoying right now:

Never used Hoopla? Here are some tips on how to get started

Create an account

If you haven’t created a Hoopla account yet, visit the library’s Hoopla page to watch the how-to library video and learn how to create an account using your Oak Park library card and PIN, and get started navigating Hoopla.

Remember: When you log into your Hoopla account, you’ll use your email address and the password you created when you set up your Hoopla account.

Check out music

Search for music using the search bar or browse available albums:

  • When using your browser: Click on the Browse button and then on Music.
  • If you’re using the Hoopla app: Tap on Music.

Once you find the album you want, click borrow.

Download the album to your device

If you’re using the app on a smartphone or tablet, I recommend downloading the album after you check it out by selecting the Tap here to download button. Then, the album will stream directly from your device, without using your mobile data.

More about Hoopla borrows

You can check out up to 30 items on Hoopla a month. When you borrow an album, it will be available to stream for 7 days. Items return automatically on the due date.
