BookTrek to China!

Ever wanted to travel to China? Your passport to fun and facts starts at the Library. This month we'll explore China through games, food, crafts, and stories. This program is best for ages 7 to 11. Registration starts February 1. Register at the Main Library or call 708-452-3420.

Valentine's Craft

Hey big guys! Bring your little ones with you to storytime and enjoy books, songs, and snacks in a relaxing environment with other dads. (Moms are also welcome!) Best for kids 2 to 6. No registration is required.

 

Barefoot Hawaiians

Main Library Veterans Room

Warm up Presidents' Day with Polynesian dance and music, including the Samoan Fire Knife dance and Hawaiian Hula dancing. Choreographed to music, this high-energy program will include audience participation!

Tickets available at the Main Library starting February 1.

Make a Mask

Celebrate Mardi Gras by dropping in to craft a silly or scary mask with Miss Ellen. This program is best for kids 4 and up. No registration required.

Stories and crafts are matched in this fun, interactive session which features longer books and art activities for children in kindergarten through second grade.

Free Weekly Storytimes

Drop in!
Every storytime is drop-in—no registration is required. All you need to attend is your Oak Park Public Library card.

For the Library to present enjoyable and successful programs, we limit the number of attendees in each storytime. Due to high demand we ask that you only attend one program each week.

Storytimes are 30 minutes long. Please arrive 15 minutes early.

Storytime Descriptions

Busy Babies for children up to 15 months, with a caregiver
Boost your baby's brain power with an introduction to simple books—plus rhymes, songs and hands-on playtime.

Marvelous Mondays for children up to 24 months, with a caregiver
This open play group includes toddler toys, board books and music. Have fun and socialize with other children and caregivers.

Wonderful Ones for children 12 to 24 months, with a caregiver
Created especially for energetic 1s, this storytime includes short books, lots of fingerplays, and fun props.

Terrific Twos for two-year-olds, with a caregiver
For curious 2s, this storytime nurtures pre-reading skills through stories, music and movement.

Preschool Fun for ages 3 to 5, with or without a caregiver
Through longer books, concept games, and ABC's, children will build important skills for school in this stimulating session.

Book Buzz for children in kindergarten through second grade, with or without a caregiver
Stories and crafts are matched in this
interactive session which features longer books and art activities.

Donuts with Dads for children from 2 to 6 years, with their caregiver

Family Open for children from 2 to 6 years and their siblings with a caregiver
There's something for everyone in this lively storytime that’s full of favorites.

Storytime Guidelines

1. Every storytime is drop-in and free! Pick up daily entry tickets at the Children's Services Desk.

2. Storytimes are approximately 30 minutes long. Please arrive early—latecomers might not be admitted.

3. To attend most storytimes at the Oak Park Public Library, you must have an Oak Park Public Library card. (See above for our storytimes which are open to nonresidents.)

4. For the Library to present enjoyable and successful programs, we must limit the number of attendees in a storytime. Due to high demand, we ask that you only attend 1 program each week.

5. Please keep conversations and distractions to a minimum—snacks, toys and cell phones should be put away.

6. Have fun, sing along, and check out some books to take home!
