Books & bagels: New pop-up library at Daly Bagel

Announcing our newest pop-up library location: The Daly Bagel, 130 Chicago Ave., Oak Park!

Pop-up libraries allow community members to use the library when they’re out and about, no library card or checkouts needed.

“We are thrilled and honored to be part of the Pop-Up Library initiative!” said Adrienne Guldin and Amanda Daly of The Daly Bagel. “As longtime lovers of books, reading, and libraries in general, this just feels like a natural partnership.”

Books about baking & sharing food

The pop-up library at The Daly Bagel is our first food-related partner site, and our first location to host a versatile, smaller bin of books versus a larger shelf.

For the launch of this collection, Youth & Family Outreach Librarian Sarah Yale curated a bunch of diverse titles (a baker’s dozen and then a few more!), many of which highlight baking and sharing food together. Books include How We EatDad BakesCómo se come un mangoA Big Mooncake for Little Starand Umami.

That last one, Umami, is by local author and artist Jacob Grant, who’s also the creative force behind our Pop-Up Library mascot, Cornelius Acorn (pictured on the front of the book bin and on pop-up library shelves around town)!
