Your voice, your library: Help us plan for the future!

We love the Main Library—and we know you do, too. As we look ahead, we want to ensure our spaces continue to meet your needs through a new Strategic Facilities Plan. This is not a plan for a new building or a request for more funding; it is a roadmap to make sure that every future improvement we make is intentional, fiscally responsible, and inspired by you.

Help shape our future: The community survey

Our approach to this plan is to “listen first.” We have already begun gathering information from our staff and the library board to understand how our buildings operate day-to-day. To lead this process, we are working with Woolpert, the successors to the building’s original architects, Nagle Hartray. The team brings a deep institutional knowledge of Oak Park that is incredibly beneficial to this project.

But the most important data comes from you. We invite you to take our community survey, which is running from early May through mid-June.

You can also grab a paper survey at any of our three library locations starting Friday, May 1, or come meet with library staff and architects in the Main Library Lobby during A Day in Our Village (Sunday, June 7).

We appreciate your help in shaping a library that works for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this process!
