Your voice, your library: Main Library Strategic Facilities Plan

We love the Main Library—and we know you do, too. As we look ahead, we want to ensure our spaces continue to meet your needs through a new Strategic Facilities Plan. This is not a plan for a new building or a request for more funding; it is a roadmap to make sure that every future improvement we make is intentional, fiscally responsible, and inspired by you.

Thank you for being part of the process

Leading this process, we are working with Woolpert, the successors to the building’s original architects, Nagle Hartray. The team brings deep institutional knowledge of Oak Park that is incredibly beneficial to the project. Our approach to this plan is to “listen first.” We gathered information from our staff, the library board, and you to help us understand how our buildings operate day-to-day.

From May 1 through June 15 we gathered more than 1,600 responses to a community survey about how you use the Main Library. Architects from Woolpert came to A Day in Our Village on June 7, along with library staff, to hear your feedback.

We appreciate your help in shaping a library that works for everyone and will continue to share updates on our Strategic Facilities Plan. Thank you for being a part of this process!
