By Older Adult Services Librarian Claire Steiner

If you are taking a trip anytime soon, make sure you check in with us before you leave. The Oak Park Public Library has helpful resources for planning and making sure you are fully prepared for your next adventure.

Travel guides

Trying to decide where to go can be the most challenging part of planning your trip. Take some time to look at the library’s extensive collection of travel guides—both in print and online.

Libby and Hoopla feature collections from Fodor’s, The Lonely Planet, and Rick Steves.

Libby also has an extensive travel magazine collection.

For example, this collection has a travel adapter, mobile hotspots, a GoPro camera, and exercise bands for the traveling athlete.

Digital audiobooks & ebooks

Traveling would not be as much fun without some good books. Take advantage of our ebook collections. You will be endlessly entertained without taking up too much room in your carry-on.

Be sure to download the items to your device before boarding so you don’t have to worry about wifi. You can refresh your checkouts anytime with a wifi connection.

You can search the library catalog for titles or download the Libby and Hoopla apps.

Reviews from Consumer Reports

Travel planning just got easier with expert advice from Consumer Reports. From airline guides to the best and worst car rental companies, this resource can help you make the right choices for the ultimate getaway. You can also find what travel bags and pillows are recommended with Consumer Reports’ tried and tested review panels.

Whether you are staying domestic or heading somewhere exotic, keep the Oak Park Public Library in mind for travel resources.
