Shalonda Lane is the library’s new Director of Equity & Anti-Racism. She brings over a decade of experience advancing equity through policy, programming, and community engagement across higher education and local government.
Most recently, she served as the Collective Impact Manager for the Village of Oak Park, where she led initiatives including a comprehensive racial equity assessment, a policy audit, and the development of the Village’s Language Access Plan.
Shalonda is passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and connected, and is excited to continue this work in a community-centered environment like the Oak Park Public Library.
