3rd Annual Disability Pride March & Rally
We made signs with messages like “We celebrate our differences,” “Respect all disabilities,” and “Solidarity is the only way to win.”
Then we marched around the Main Library and ended with a singalong with Dynamic Lynks. We also learned from more local organizations on the plaza outside the library.
It was a joyful day, and well attended! Twice as many people (100+) as in 2024 came out to celebrate and learn.
Hidden Disability Healing Circle
This circle for adults with hidden/non-apparent disabilities was focused on healing. Examples of non-apparent disabilities include, but are not limited to, mental health, arthritis, diabetes, neurodivergence, hearing, and more.
One participant told us: “I loved the energy and skills shared by the co-facilitators. Truly I felt safe and enjoyed connecting with others. Would love to see a few more of these throughout the year.”
Join us for another Hidden Disability Healing Circle on Sunday, December 7.
Neurodivergent Nerdout!
This new intergenerational program, run by neurodivergent librarians, welcomed neurodivergent kids, teens, adults, and seniors. Participants can choose to participate in various ways, including hanging out in the space.
One participant told us: “I loved sharing passions and interest with others in my community. This is an awesome event.”
Join us for the next Neurodivergent Nerdout on Sunday, November 16.
Disability Pride Ice Cream Social
This event was a low-pressure, high-joy celebration of community, connection, and inclusion.
As one participant sums it up: “What is not to love about ice cream and so many cool people to chat with! Even learn about some awesome opportunities to build community beyond the event.”
