Today is as good a day as any to start a healthy habit! Try one (or all) of these five suggestions in 2025.
1. Connect & socialize
Seeking to connect and socialize with other older adults? Join us on the first Friday of the month for Older Adult Coffee Hour at the Main Library, and enjoy a cup of coffee and friendly conversation with others in the community.
2. Reset your body & relax your mind
Looking for a way to reset and relax? Every month, we offer a Sound Bath Meditation at the Main Library. Immerse yourself in the ambient sounds and vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls, which create a sense of calm and promote good health and balanced energy.
3. Move your body & center your mind
Calm and center your mind while moving your body through intentional poses and sequences. Chair yoga can improve your flexibility, concentration, and strength while boosting your mood and reducing joint strain. Join us virtually on Tuesdays for Chair Yoga.
4. Start a new tradition
The winter night sky is a wonder to behold. Start a new winter tradition by checking out the telescope from the Library of Things. Pair your experience with one of the Great Courses on astronomy or these resources curated by Collection Management librarians (below).
5. Grow something
Interested in starting to grow vegetables but feel intimidated? Join certified urban farmer Chamika Moore in this Vegetable Gardening 101 workshop on January 29 at the Main Library to learn the basics of growing seeds indoors for a successful spring vegetable garden.
No matter which habit you choose, you're making a positive step forward. We can’t wait to see you—virtually or in person—at the library in 2025!
