Honoring MLK Day: Books, a display, resources & more

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 20), all library buildings will be closed. We’ve gathered together title suggestions, online resources, and more to help you celebrate the life and legacy of one of the best-known leaders of the civil rights movement.

Dream Hands that patrons write on, to be added to the Martin Luther King display in the Main Library Idea Box

Contribute to a community 'Dream Hands' display

As a tribute to the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a collage of our community’s Dream Hands will be on display in the Main Library Idea Box.

To share a dream and be a part of this community window display:

  1. Get a blank paper Dream Hand at the Main Library Children’s Services desk, and at both Dole and Maze branches.
  2. Write out (or draw) your dream on the paper hand.
  3. Return the paper hand to a library staff member, and we will display it on the Main Library Idea Box windows.
