Memory Kits

What is a Memory Kit?

For people with memory loss, a Memory Kit can provide mental and emotional stimulation. The kits are designed to be used to inspire conversation and build stronger connections. These kits currently live on the Main Library second floor.

What’s included?

Memory Kits include a variety of materials—books, movies, music, tools, and more—based on a theme.

How do I check out a kit?

Memory Kits are available at the Main Library and can be checked out for up to three weeks. Only Oak Park patrons can place holds, and the kits are not able to be renewed. Kits must be returned to a service desk at the Main Library.

Memory Kits and the Oak Park Oral History Project, a new digital library initiative, were funded in part by a grant from AgeOptions.
