for Kids going into 5th and 6th Grades
Library Helpers
Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3:30 pm or
Fridays, 10 am to 12 pm
at the Main Library
Help with special programs, create summer reading displays,
write book reviews, read aloud to younger children, decorate
the Library, and promote the summer reading program, Catch
the Reading Bug.
Library Helpers runs for eight weeks, from June 10 through
July 29. This is a flexible schedule-come every week, or just
when you can.

for Teens going into 7th through 12th Grades
The Library is offering a new volunteer program for teenagers
that will build your skills, engage your talents, and allow
you to give back to the community.
Teens will be selected to volunteer in teams for eight weeks,
from June 9 through August 1. If selected for a team you will
be expected to volunteer at the scheduled team times. You will
have the chance to complete 17.5 volunteer hours.

Apply by Thursday, May 22 for your chance at this unique
opportunity! Space is limited, so you may not be assigned to
your first choice team.
Teen Teams:

AudioSquad
Tuesdays, 2 to 4 pm
at the Main Library
Team members will learn how the Library selects and purchases
its music collection. Team members will also be working
hands-on with the collection to make it easier to browse.
This is an excellent team for teens who love music.

Generals
Thursdays, 1 to 3 pm
at the Main Library
Work on a variety of tasks from week to week, including
moving books, putting books in order, and finding specific
books from a list. This is an excellent team for teens
who want to be physically active and enjoy variety.

AV Club
Wednesdays, 10 am to 12 pm
at the Main Library
The AV Club team members will put together promotional
videos and other materials for the Library by writing,
acting, directing, and video editing. This is an excellent
team for creative, dedicated teens who want marketing
experience.

Dewey Doctors
Wednesdays, 1 to 3 pm
at the Maze Branch
This team will work as a group to make the Library's
books look "healthy." Tasks include straightening
books on the shelves, putting books in order, and putting
books on display. This is an excellent team for teens
who want to be physically active and enjoy variety.

Booktalkers
Thursdays, 10 am to 12 pm
at the Main Library
This team will really work as a group, talking about
books and writing book reviews which will be posted on
the Library's teen website. Each team member will be responsible
for sharing one favorite book each week with the group.
The team will work directly with the Young Adult Fiction
collection, putting books in order and seeing all the
new books. This is an excellent team for teens who love
reading and want to work on their writing skills.

Dole Teen Club
Mondays, 10 am to 12 pm
at the Dole Branch
Put stickers on books, write book reviews for the Library
website, assure that books are in the right order on the
shelves, take photos, and help with other fun, artsy activities
throughout the summer. This is an excellent team for creative
teens who enjoy variety.

Branch
If you cannot attend the May 29 Orientation, a second
session will be held on
June 6, from 2 to 3:30 pm at the Main
Library.

Appreciation Party: August 7, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Main
Library

Branch Summer Reading Assistants
at the Dole Branch and Maze
Branch
Help younger kids enjoy the Library's summer reading program,
Catch the Reading Bug! Volunteers will monitor kids' progress,
help with special programs, create displays, and perform other
tasks related to the program.
This is a great opportunity for teens who are very outgoing,
love working directly with kids, and can share their enthusiasm
for reading.
Branch summer reading assistants will be selected and supervised
by the branch managers. Scheduling will be based on individual
needs.
