The Oak Park Public Library subscribes to nearly 500 magazines, journals, and newspapers. These include approximately 30 Children's and 20 Young Adult titles. Back issues of selected periodicals are available.

Search for journal and magazine articles using online tools like ProQuest, EBSCO MasterFile Elite, and First Search. Find newspaper articles online through Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, Daily Herald, Oak Leaves, and Newspaper Source. Search the New York Times with ProQuest. To locate needed articles, a list of titles showing dates for which full-text is available online is kept at the Information Services Desk on the Third Floor of the Main Library.

Microfilm and Microfiche
The Main Library has a microfilm/microfiche collection of historic local newspapers, telephone directories, and other resources. The Local History Index on catalog cards provides access to this material through 1987; from 1988 to the present the index is available on computer. Two microfilm reader/printers are located on the Third Floor of the Main Library.
