Subject Guides - Travel in the United States
These Library items and helpful Internet sites provide assistance
in researching travel in the United States. These Internet sites
are not connected with the Oak Park Public Library. A bookmark
detailing where each state's travel section can be found on
the shelves is available at the Information Services Desk on
the Third Floor of the Main Library.
General Guidebooks
The Library owns a broad array of the standard guidebooks such
as Fodor's, Frommer's, Mobil, Let's Go, TimeOut, CityGuide,
Unofficial Guides, and Compass American Guides, but
look further. We have an intentionally wide and interesting variety
of other guidebooks for US travel destinations, including:
Off
the Beaten Path This excellent series offers insights
into each location's culture, history, museums, monuments,
hotels, parks, and so much more. A guide for those interested
in something slightly different. The Library owns titles for
44 locations - from Alaska to Florida, California to Virginia.
Oddball
Illinois This is a guide to some really interesting
and unusual places. The Library
also has Oddball guides to Florida, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
The
Library also has over 25 titles on Florida's Walt Disney World
(917.5924) and many titles covering cruises and ocean travel
