Volunteering at the Book Fair

Donated books are collected at the high school throughout the month of July. Volunteers start sorting them while others place them on the appropriate tables.

Imagine! More than a 100,000 books to categorize! Enough to keep us busy for months. Volunteers are welcome to sort during a day shift or an evening shift. Also keep in mind that the cafeteria is air-conditioned, an important feature during the hot month of July....

Between July 7 and July 31, 2008
Volunteer Book Sorters
are needed
Monday through Friday
1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
in the cafeteria of the
Oak Park River Forest High School
at 201 N. Scoville Avenue, Oak Park, IL

During the sale, Sale Volunteers are at the service of eager customers. Sale volunteers are composed of counters (people who bill customers) and cashiers. Others are in charge of straightening the rows of books throughout the sale. They help maintain an appearance of order in the cafeteria. Book buyers can get very excited by this sale!

Once the sale is over, more help is needed to clear the high school cafeteria of any signs of the hurricane that swept over Oak Park.

Every year more than fifty volunteers participate in this exciting event. Does this sound like fun to you? Call the Friends at 708-445-6260 and leave your name and number on our voice mail. We will be glad to enlist you in our army of volunteers.
