Simple Searching: Browsing Subject Directories

Searching will be covered in detail in the second session, but these pages are a brief look at how to find information on the WWW using a tool called a subject directory.

A subject directory is a website that acts as a directory of WWW pages organized by subject.

We will use Yahoo! ( http://www.yahoo.com/ ) for our class. It is probably the most recognized subject directory on the WWW.

There are two ways to use Yahoo!, as a directory or as a search tool. For now we will use it as a subject directory.
