StoryWalk at Cheney Mansion

In collaboration with the Park District of Oak Park, the Oak Park Public Library StoryWalk® at Cheney Mansion features "Oh, No!" by Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann.

The month-long event kicks off with an opening reception and refreshments on Saturday, Sept. 7, and runs through Oct. 5 (whenever the grounds are open) at the Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park.

BFFs: Best Friends Forever

November's aMAZEing artist, Steve Fisher, will display portraits of library patrons' pets! This heartwarming display will be on exhibit through the end of the month.

To particpate: Submit your request with a digital image of you and your pet to petportraits@oppl.org. Steve will select 20 images to paint. All submissions must be received by Sunday, Sept 1.

August Artist: Marion Sirefman

Oak Park Artist Marion Sirefman will have an exhibit titled “Journeys” in the Oak Park Public Library Gallery through August 2 through Aug. 30. A reception for the artist will be Sunday, Aug. 4, from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

Anniversary After-hours Party

Enjoy concerts, an in-the-library Instagram scavenger hunt, complimentary treats, sweets and cash bar for wine and beer. First concert begins at 7:15 p.m. with The Boogers playing rock and roll for kids, followed by R-Gang specializing in Motown and Rhythm & Blues at 8:15 p.m.

Parent Workshop: Creatively Overcoming Communication Barriers

Is communication challenging for your child with special needs? Join Oak Park speech-language pathologist Dr. Jill E. Senner and our own Shelley Harris for a show and tell workshop highlighting creative adaptations for communication, especially in areas difficult for augmentative communication users, such as in the pool, garden, bed and more. Dr. Senner, founder of Technology and Language Center, Inc., has almost 20 years of experience working with with children with complex communication needs. Register beginning October 7.
