Folk Music Concert: Cindy Mangsen & Steve Gillette

Folk singers Cindy Mangsen and Steve Gillette bring their love of traditional music and wealth of original songs to Oak Park in a free concert. Accompanying themselves with guitars and concertinas, their live performances are known for rich harmony, compelling songs and a good dose of humor. Their five duet albums have appeared on many folk Top Ten lists, including WFMT Radio's Midnight Special.

Magic Show Featuring Gary Kantor!

Author Simon Winchester: "The Men Who United the States"

Anniversary After-hours Party

Enjoy concerts, an in-the-library Instagram scavenger hunt, complimentary treats, sweets and cash bar for wine and beer. First concert begins at 7:15 p.m. with The Boogers playing rock and roll for kids, followed by R-Gang specializing in Motown and Rhythm & Blues at 8:15 p.m.

Literary Explorations

In celebration of 10 years in the Main Library and 110 years in Oak Park, the library will host a month-long community art exhibit at all three buildings. Literary Explorations will showcase work inspired by literature. Like the books in our collection, the artwork may evoke strong emotions, celebrate an author, or capture a setting. Three separate artist receptions are planned for Sunday, Oct. 6. Dole Branch and Maze Branch receptions will be from 2 to 4 pm. Main Library reception will be from 3 to 5 pm. Meet the artists and discover if and how your favorite books are represented.

Families are invited to hear Caldecott award-winning author and illustrator Eric Rohmann talk about how he creates picture books. Come ready with your questions for our local star!
