September 2003 events in the Main Library Project

Main Library Closes for Move to New Building
The Main Library closed for the Labor Day holiday and remained closed through the month of September. During this time the Library's books and materials were moved from the temporary site on Harlem Avenue to the new main library building at 834 Lake Street. The Library again used Hallett Movers, the company which had moved the Library in November 2001 to the termporary site. Also during the month, staff were trained on new library and emergency procedures and became familiar with the collections in the new, larger space. The "Glory of Books" art exhibit was installed in the Art Gallery for the October opening of the building.
