Referendum Process Begins
In December
1999, the Oak Park Public Library's Board of Trustees took an important
step toward relieving the crowded conditions at the Main Library and toward
accelerating the pace of repairs at the 63-year-old Maze Branch Library.
And yes -- the plan even addresses the difficult problem of parking around
the Main Library! The Board voted unanimously to ask Oak Park voters to
approve spending $30 million to build a new main library building and
to accelerate the rate of repairs at the Maze Branch Library.
