to Search Catalog The Library Catalog contains information about all types
of materials at the Main Library and both branch libraries and gives you real-time
status about an item, for example, whether or not it's checked out. The Library
Catalog is inaccessible Monday mornings from 12:45 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. due to routine
system maintenance. 1. Access
the Library Catalog and click on the "Search" tab at the top of
the screen. 2. Click on the down arrow in the middle of the screen to select
the category in which to search. 3. Click on the empty box to the right of
the arrow and type in your search term. When doing a keyword search for a title
that contains the words AND, OR, or NOT type quotes around those words. 4.
Click on the red "Go" button to see your search results. 5. You
can limit your search results or sort your search results using the down arrows
on the right of the screen and clicking on the "Go" button on the right.
For options to narrow your search click on "Advanced" or "Powered"
under the "Search" tab. To see your previous searches click on "History"

the "Limits" box. 5. In the "Limits" box click on "Coll:
Books on CD" to limit your search to the audiobooks on CD collection.
6. Scroll to the top of the screen and click on the red arrow button next to the
"General Keyword" box. 7. You might also repeat these instructions
using these General Keyword search terms: Mystery, Science Fiction, or Comedy.

to Login to Your Account You will need your Oak Park Public Library card
number to login to your account. Accounts are inaccessible Monday mornings from

digits of your library card number (without spaces) and enter your pin number

under the "My Account" tab to see lists of the items borrowed or held

How to Renew Online You will need your Oak Park Public
Library card number to renew an item online. Some items are
not renewable. Renewable items can be renewed online before the first overdue
notice is generated. The online renewal system is inaccessible Monday mornings
from 12:45 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. due to routine system maintenance.
1. Access the Library Catalog and click
on the "My Account" tab at the top of the screen. 2. Enter all
14 digits of your library card number (without spaces) and enter your pin number

ways to Renew Items
How
to Place Holds on Items Found in Catalog You will need your Oak Park Public
Library card number to place a hold on an item found in the Library Catalog. The
Library Catalog is inaccessible Monday mornings from 12:45 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. due
to routine system maintenance. 1. Access
the Library Catalog and search as usual. (How to search
catalog.) 2. When you have found an item you wish to request click on
the "Request Item" button. 3. If you have not already logged in
you will need to enter all 14 digits of your library card number (without spaces)
and enter your pin number (the last four digits of your telephone number unless
you have changed it) and click on the "Login" button. (How
to login to your account.) 4. The "Request Confirmation" screen
will appear. 5. Click on the down arrow to select a location to pick up the
item. 6. Click on the "Request" button and the "Your request
has been successfully placed" message will appear. You will be notified
when your item is available for you to pick up at the Library. 7. Click
on the "Return to Searching" button. 8. To view items you have requested
click on the "My Account" tab at the top of the screen then click on
"Holds" under the "My Account" tab. 9. When you are finished
click on the red "X" button at the top of the screen to protect your
privacy and logout of your account.
How
to Create List of Items and Email It While searching the Library Catalog
you can create a temporary list of titles (100 titles maximum) and send this list
to an email address. The Library Catalog is inaccessible Monday mornings from

Access the Library Catalog and search as
usual. (How to search catalog.) 2. When you have found
an item you wish to add to your list click on the corresponding "Add to my
list" button. 3. To view your list click on the red "My List"
button at the top of the screen. The titles in your list will appear (100 titles
maximum). 4. To email your list click on the "Email this list"
link at the bottom left of the screen. 5. Select a format for how the list
will appear in your email message: HTML for a web page version, plain text for
a text-only version, or MLA or Chicago bibliography version. 6. If you wish
to change the subject of the email click on the "Subject" box and type
the subject. 7. Click on the "Email to" box and type in the email
address where the list should be sent. 8. Click on the "Send" button.
Your list will appear with the email address where the list was sent at the bottom
left of the screen. 9. To remove a title from your list click the box to
the left of the title to be removed and click on the "Remove" button
at the top or bottom left of the list. To remove more than one title at a time
click on multiple boxes before clicking on the "Remove" button.
10. If you do not login to your account before creating a list the list will
disappear when your session with the Library Catalog is ended. If you create
a list while logged into your account the list will be retrievable by logging
in during future sessions. Lists will disappear after an inactivity period of
30 days. There is no guarantee that your saved lists will always be preserved.
As a precaution, we suggest you email your list(s) to yourself. (How

Pin
Numbers When you receive your library card your pin number is automatically
set as the last four digits of your telephone number. You can change your pin
number by following the instructions below. If you have forgotten you pin number
call the Oak Park Public Library at 708-383-8200. 1. Access
the Library Catalog and click on the "My Account" tab at the top
of the screen. 2. Enter all 14 digits of your library card number (without
spaces) and enter your pin number (the last four digits of your telephone number
unless you have changed it). 3. Click on the "Login" button and
an overview of your account will appear. 4. Click on "Profile" under
the "My Account" tab. 5. Scroll down to "Change Your Personal
Identification Number and enter your old and new PIN numbers. 6. Click on
the "Update" button. 7. When you are finished click on the red
"X" button at the top of the screen to protect your privacy and logout
