Science journalist and best-selling author of Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything, Joshua Foer will join us live via video chat at a special One Book, One Oak Park closing celebration. Don't miss a chance to connect with Joshua live, Thursday, July 31, from 6 to 8 pm at the Main Library. He'll talk about his experience exploring memory techniques while preparing for the 2006 U.S.A. Memory Championship, which he won, and answer questions, live. Have a question for Joshua? Email us, or share it on Facebook.
One Book, One Oak Park - our first community-wide reading experience - continues through Aug. 1. Read Foer's Moonwalking with Einstein and connect with your friends, family and neighbors. About halfway through the program, circulation statistics show Moonwalking is outpacing all other nonfiction books checked out at the library by 10:1. Executive Director David Seleb explains, “The fantastic circulation of our first One Book, One Oak Park title demonstrates that the people of Oak Park have welcomed the opportunity to read as a community. We are pleased to lead and facilitate this experience, to provide new ways for Oak Park community members to share and connect.”
Join our final library-led book discussion at Maze Branch Library Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30 pm. Lead your own discussion with a custom Book Group Discussion Kit, developed by Oak Park librarians to help you host your own discussion, on your own timeline. Kits include discussion questions, author background, menu ideas and more, and are available at all library locations and online.
